If you’re looking for something to inspire and move you this New Year why not visit us and experience an exciting new installation as part of the current Illuminate winter exhibition in the theatre,  (re)Stretch by artist Sophia Clist in collaboration with Nick Burge.

The interactive sculpture is made from an incredible four miles of shearing elastic –  the type you find in the top of your socks!    Hundreds of strands of elastic stretch from wall to wall to create a beautiful tactile screen.  Sophia consciously created a sculpture that people of all ages can touch, pull, pluck and lean upon which combines with sound and light to provide a multi sensory experience.    Users are encouraged to let their imagination run free!

This week over 90 children from local Birmingham schools will be popping in to experience the exhibit before taking their seats for matinee performances of Dick Whittington.   We look forward to welcoming them.

Come and have a play!    (re)Stretch is exhibited in The Patrick Centre at Birmingham Hippodrome.    Open for one hour ahead of all performances of Dick Whittington and Saturday 15 Jan, 12 – 5pm.

It’s Free of charge and Suitable for all ages. Children absolutely love this experience so don’t miss out!

The original sculpture Stretch was conceived and designed by Sophia Clist and has developed in collaboration with Craig Vear, Nick Burge and Ragnhild Olsen, Sarah Cameron, Anouk Llaurens  and Jonathan Eato.  Stretch was commissioned by Crying Out Loud as part of its PIP programme.  (re)Stretch is presented by Birmingham Hippodrome in association with DanceXchange.

Dick Whittington runs until 30 January.
