Tasty Challenge for Hospitality staff

Yesterday, myself, Kate (PA to our Chief Executive) & Emma and Gary (Hospitality) headed over to UCB to support two members of our restaurant staff, Luke Brown & Laura Coughlan, who are competing in the annual Marche (Midlands Association for Restaurants Caterers, Hotels & Entertainment) awards.

Laura and Luke had to serve invited guests to a full three-course meal as judges looked on and rated their service and attention to detail – a rather nerve racking experience!

This year Birmingham Hippodrome had 4 entrants for the awards which award excellence in Catering & hospitality. 3 of the entrants have made it through to the finals; Paul Proffitt (Chef of the Year Category), Luke Brown and Laura Coughlan (Food Service category).

All three got through to the preliminary rounds and have competed this week in the finals; they now have an agonising wait until 24 March at the awards ceremony at the ICC to see if they have won! The Awards ceremony attracts about 1,000 of the city’s ‘great and good’ of the Hospitality industry.

This is now our third year of entry into the awards which award excellence in the catering and hospitality industry, the first year saw Mark Drayton (Conference & Events Sales Manager) won a Silver Award in the Sales Coordinator category and last year Elyse Critchlow (Conference & Events Co-coordinator) won Gold in the same category.
