On 26, 27 and 28 August from 10am to 4pm we will be running free craft workshops, kindly hosted by Ming Moon restaurant on Hurst Street. The sessions are inspired by the giant interactive artwork Tangle that will be appearing at Summer in Southside on 29 and 30 August.
The workshops, for children aged 5+ will be led by an experienced arts practitioner who is using Summer in Southside highlight Tangle to inspire the craft work. The workshops are open to all families and people can drop in to create their own tangled artwork, or stay longer and help create a mini tangle. Free Chinese food samples kindly supplied by Ming Moon will also be on offer at the workshops.
Birmingham Hippodrome’s Creative Learning Manager Liz Leck said “We are so excited that Summer in Southside is returning for another year, and delighted we can run these workshops for children and their families to enjoy. We have a great space to hold the workshops in thanks to Ming Moon, and they are kindly cooking up some lovely free Chinese food samples for people to enjoy. If you can’t stay all day you can just drop in but no matter what you choose it will be fun for all the family, and a great way to experience one of the main highlights of Summer in Southside the main event over the Bank Holiday weekend.”
Tangle is set to be the main highlight of our free Bank Holiday festival Summer in Southside which is taking place in Southside on 29 and 30 August, with a preview on Friday 28 August from 5.30pm. Tangle, by Australian theatre company Polyglot is a giant weaving play space event. A giant coloured elastic ball is given to each participant to weave around golden poles, creating a vibrant, live interactive artwork made by children and their families.
