A big production took place off stage this weekend (25 Oct) when our operations team took charge of one of their biggest performances to date!
A massive 300 ton crane was erected in Inge Street to help lift a new 6 ton chiller onto our roof which helps operate our air-conditioning system.
If a chiller breaks down the second chiller immediately kicks in which means that patrons can still enjoy a comfortable visit to the theatre.
Well done to our operations team – take a bow!
Today we welcomed our pantomime stars Julian Clary (Slave of the Ring) and Matt Slack (Wishee Washee) for a busy day of media interviews and photographs ahead of the opening of the spectacular new production of Aladdin.
Aladdin producer and director Michael Harrison, who was also at the media day said “You can’t beat a pantomime at Birmingham Hippodrome – it’s the home of the UK panto, it’s such an intimate setting and our panto stars love it.”
Aladdin is a brand new production with new sets, costumes and breathtaking special effects including a magic flying carpet and stunning 3D.
Julian and Matt, in full pantomime costume posed for photographs for a large group of photographers and signed our new giant H which will be signed by all visiting companies.
Aladdin opens on 19 December and also stars Marti Pellow (Abanazar) and Lee Mead (Aladdin).
Maudits Sonnants by French company Transe Express, presented by Birmingham Hippodrome, will be performed this Friday and Saturday from 8.30pm.
This is one of the major highlights of Birmingham Weekender and promises to be a magical, breathtaking and family sharing event performed against the city’s night sky.
Don’t miss out on this much acclaimed production – FREE to all.
And let us know if you’re coming!
