Drum roll please… we are very pleased to bring you details of a brand-new season here at Birmingham Hippodrome.
This Spring/Summer we have some great previously announced highlights coming your way including the return of International Dance Festival Birmingham, National Theatre’s One Man, Two Guvnors, Opera and Ballet from our partners WNO and BRB, Buddy, Cape Town Opera’s Show Boat and, of course, smash-hit Musical Wicked. We also head into the Autumn with two additional blockbusters, CATS and Blood Brothers and this November we host the epic Wagner’s Ring Cycle presented by Mariinsky Theatre.
Now, time for the big reveal… new productions for 2014/15 include the Birmingham Hippodrome debut for comedian Jon Richardson, Brazilian dance company Grupo Corpo, the return of the ever-popular Slava’s Snow Show and BRB’s The Nutcracker, Matthew Bourne’s fantastic re-telling of Edward Scissorhands and the arrival of the big, green, West End hit Shrek – The Musical.
We are also very excited to reveal that Gary Wilmot, Paul Zerdin and Matt Slack will all be returning after critical and audience acclaim in last years pantomime for another year here in Jack in the Beanstalk this December. Further star casting for this year’s spectacular pantomime will be announced very soon…
The new season is on sale to Friends NOW with general tickets on sale Fri 11 Apr at 10am. Tickets for Shrek – The Musical go on sale to Friends Tue 6 May, Groups Mon 12 May and general on sale Wed 14 May. For more info on becoming a Friend click here.

It’s that time again, we are thrilled to launch a shiny New Season here at Birmingham Hippodrome.
What a year 2013 has been, with huge productions such as Phantom, Lion King and War Horse we have been treated to a spectacular year of theatre – and 2014 looks to be no different…
2014 will see the return of one of the UK’s biggest dance events International Dance Festival Birmingham featuring the biggest names and titles in dance such as Sylvie Guillem, Breakin’ Convention, Sidi Larbi and Canadian company Kidd Pivott.
In November, another major highlight of the year will be the Mariinsky Theatre production of The Ring Cycle by Richard Wagner conducted by world famous Maestro Valery Gergiev – the only UK date in 2014.
12,000 litres of water are set to flood our stage every night during Singin’ in the Rain and the huge West End hit Wicked will fly into Birmingham over Summer. Matthew Bourne’s award-winning Swan Lake will make a very welcome return as well as Andrew Lloyd Webber’s CATS plus the National Theatre’s hilarious One Man, Two Guvnors.

We have now announced the full range of shows leading up to Spring 2014 including some fantastic new additions. Newly announced productions include Fiddler on the Roof starring Paul Michael Glaser, the return of the classic musical Evita, a new production of Happy Days and the National Theatre’s multi-award-winning One Man, Two Guvnors.

We are also proud to reveal some of the headline performances at next year’s biennial International Dance Festival Birmingham. Contemporary dance company Alias from Geneva present Sideways Rain, world-famous ballerina Sylvie Guillem returns in 6000 Miles Away, the ever-popular international festival of Hip Hop Breakin’ Covention and Sidi Larbi’s M¡longa featuring a talented cast of Argentinian tango dancers and musicians. Celebrated choreographer Matthew Bourne will also bring a new production of The Lord of the Flies featuring a cast of New Adventures dancers alongside remarkable young talent from the West Midlands in an extraordinary adaptation of William Golding’s classic novel.
