As part of our spectacular FREE outdoor event, Illuminate, we are offering YOU the chance to be featured in one of the huge light installation pieces to be displayed on the side of a building in Southside!

All you need to do is turn up to Hippodrome Square directly in front of the main entrance to the theatre on Monday 7 Oct between 12noon and 7pm and have your photo taken – simple!

We will then collate all of the images from the day before they appear as part of a large scale piece called Southside Faces by Andy McKeown projected on the side of The Loft Lounge building.

Illuminate will take place Fri 25 – Sat 27 Oct in and around Southside, the area surrounding Birmingham Hippodrome. This free event will see evenings come alive with light inspired performances, film igloos, interactive street projections and the incredible Lanterns of the Terracotta Warriors Exhibition.

This Bank Holiday, the streets and squares around Birmingham Hippodrome will once again be transformed as we host a kaleidoscope of circus, dance and puppetry in the concluding weekend of  Summer in Southside.

One of the biggest spectacles of the weekend is sure to be Graeae’s The Iron Man which will see a huge 20ft iron giant roam the streets of Southside in a compelling story for the entire family. Find out more about this extraordinary performance in the video below…

Another major event will be the return of the fabulous NoFit State Circus with a host of interactive workshops where you can join in and run away with the circus as well as watching the professionals turn their hand to incredible feats of acrobatics and stunts.

Midlands based Motionhouse will add a contemporary twist to the day with their highly-physical Captive as they twist and turn around a huge steel cage.

Physical theatre company, Upswing will bring more dance to the day in a unique mix of circus and dance as they re-tell some famous grim and glorious fairytales.  Take a look at a sneek peek of the performance here…
