Sneaky peek of cast of UK’s biggest pantomime at Birmingham Hippodrome in full costume!

Earlier this week we welcomed the full company of our pantomime Jack and the Beanstalk including our wonderful cast Jane McDonald (Enchantress)  Duncan James (Jack), Chris Gascoyne (Fleshcreep), Gary Wilmot (Dame Trot), Paul Zerdin (Simple Simon) and Matt Slack (Silly Billy) with Robyn Mellor as Princess Apricot.

They started to arrive from last Sunday and once the set was  finished being built the company went straight into rehearsals on stage.

At the moment (18 Dec pm) the first full  technical run through is taking place to ensure everything works and everyone knows where they need to be on stage, from lighting to sets, to special effects and of course the amazing 3D.   It really is going to be a big show!

Before the Tech we invited members of the media to attend a photocall on stage with the cast  (look out for pictures in the Express and Star, Post and Mail, nationals and BBC Midlands Today).

Tonight the company perform their first full dress rehearsal and we can’t wait to see it.

Here’s a sneaky peek of the full cast in costume taken today.  (photographer: Simon Hadley)

Jack and the Beanstalk opens tomorrow 19 December and runs until 1 February.    Click here to book tickets.

“Mirror, mirror on the wall…who’s in the greatest Panto of them all!?”

The whispers and speculation as to who will be starring in Britain’s biggest Panto is always an exciting time and now we can confirm this year’s star studded line up, who’s excited? We certainly are!

Heading the cast as the handsome Prince is the multi-talented TV heart-throb JOHN PARTRIDGE. John, who is currently in the high-kicking sequin clad, A Chorus Line at the London Palladium, is best remembered for playing the role of Christian in BBC1’s EastEnders and was also part of the panel for the hugely-successful BBC series Over the Rainbow and is a guest host of The National Lottery Draws.

Adding a little bit of sartorial chic is everyone’s favourite fashion guru GOK WAN who makes his pantomime debut in Birmingham as The Man in The Mirror.  Leicester born Gok achieved huge success with his Channel 4 series How to Look Good Naked and has since enjoyed regular appearances on television and was recently seen in Channel 4’s The Secret Millions.

The Wicked Queen will be played by stage, TV and film actress STEPHANIE BEACHAM.  Stephanie’s credits include the hit television series Tenko, Bad Girls and The Colbys but is probably best remembered for playing the role of Sable in the hit US TV series Dynasty.

GARY WILMOT, a firm favourite with Birmingham Hippodrome audiences will be marking his first performance as pantomime Dame. Gary played the role of Buttons in the 1995 production of Cinderella at the Hippodrome, Caractacus Potts in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang in the West End and Birmingham and starred in the hit productions of The Goodbye Girl and Me and My Girl.  He rose to fame on ITV’s New Faces and went on to present numerous television shows including Showstoppers.

Following his popular appearance in Robin Hood at Birmingham Hippodrome in 2008 the hilarious ventriloquist PAUL ZERDIN returns to play the role of Muddles. Paul, star of the Royal Variety Performance and Comedy Rocks will be bringing along a few of his friends including the cheeky and loveable Sam! The headline cast is completed by MATT SLACK who will play the role of Odd Job.

How’s that for a cast!? Performances kick off from 19 Dec and are sure to fly out the door so get in quick or you won’t be able to look yourself in the mirror – click here for more info & to book.
